I've been bothered for a while about the derogatory way in which our industry in general has been referring to lower back tattoos as tramp stamps, ass hats, cum catchers, etc.  One of the things that I love about the tattoo community is the lack of judgement of others work or lack thereof.  I feel like these inflammatory references only hurt our industry and sense of community.  I get it a joke is a joke, but when I have a girl come into my studio feeling insecure about a beautiful lower back tattoo because of others remarks it makes me wonder.  If you have tattoos and you respect women let's do everyone a favor and lose this attitude.  Thanks!

I believe, It tells me that the lady is confident and expressive in her sensuality, but it doesn't mean she's a "tramp." I really don't even like to use the term "Tramp Stamp". I agree with Chris, placement should not make a woman feel insecure.

I know plenty of women in professional jobs who are very classy and are very empowered by their lower back tattoos. I don't think placement of tattoos should have anything to do with how you are viewed as a person. Just like having a whole bunch of tattoos doesn't define who you are. Your tattoos should make you feel great!

Chris- great point here. My wife has a beautiful lower back piece, and although we both see the beauty in it..others are very quick to judge. And at times she does become a bit self conscious of this. People just need to move on with the stereotyping. Cheers!
